An Olympic swimmer named Geoffrey Gaberino once said, “The real contest is always between what you’ve done and what you are capable of doing. You measure yourself against yourself and nobody else.”
As a district, our number one priority is to have all students continually improve their academic achievement and reach their maximum potential. Like Gaberino, we should always strive to reach our full potential.
To help foster student success, the School Board has set six strategic directions that will guide our future decisions. They are:
1. Focus on Individual Student Growth and High Achievement
2. Focus on Attitudes and actions that Assure Success for All
3. Align Schedule and Structure to meet Student Needs
4. Modernize Technology to Increase Productivity, Improve Learning and Better Prepare Students for “Real World”
5. Engage in Professional Development to Improve Leadership and Quality of Instruction
6. Secure and Manage Money Resources Well Enough to Focus on Mission
Parental involvement is a big part of student success and I encourage you to take the time to become involved in your child’s education.
We want you to feel comfortable and welcome in our schools. You can support your children’s education by attending school functions and by attending parent teacher conferences.
We are a team working toward improved student achievement.Your efforts in helping your children improve their schoolwork by providing encouragement; arranging for appropriate study time and space; monitoring homework; and modeling desired behavior, such as reading for pleasure, are all greatly appreciated.
During my visits to the schools, I marvel at the vast number of parents willing to volunteer in classrooms, participate in PTOs, serve on school and district committees, attend school board meetings and forums, and serve as advocates, supporters and cheerleaders for this school district.
Thank you for your service, and best wishes to you and your children as we commence another year of caring, sharing and learning.
With warm wishes for a successful school year,
